The Babb Family
Babb Lumber Company, based in Ringgold, GA, has been milling lumber since 1835. Joel Heard Babb, a decorated officer in the Revolutionary War, was awarded a substantial amount of land in Mill Creek, GA. He decided the best way to make use of the land was to start milling lumber and it was then that the legacy was born. Current operations were founded in 1953 by Walter Babb and his sons Jack and Herchel. The company expanded over the years with new machinery, dry kilns, and pressure treating plants. Jack and Herchel's legacy continues through their sons Roger, Steve, and David, along with grandsons Jason and Andrew, who now manage the business. Babb Lumber is a proud local business, supporting other local trades and sourcing all rough sawn materials, timbers, decking, and tongue and groove products locally. Local communities thrive when we spend our money locally, because our dollars stay in the communities where they are spent.
